South Lakes Safari Zoo
South Lakes Safari Zoo near Lindal in Furness, Cumbria is home to over 1,000 of the rarest and most endangered animals, in unique natural environments. You can get as close as possible to many of their animals.
Things to do at South Lakes Safari Zoo
The big animals at the zoo include lions, tigers, giraffes, rhinos, hippos and camels. You can walk amongst free, -roaming kangaroos, wallabies and emus. Plus lemurs, squirrel monkeys and tamarins. They have a walk-in aviary where vultures, parrots, macaws and other birds fly free.
The zoo has a big outdoor adventure playground with zip wires and plenty to climb, swing and slide on. They also offer animal experiences for an additional charge at the zoo. For just £5 you can join the zookeepers in hand-feeding penguins, giraffes and lemurs every day. There are also daily talks. They have many other animal experiences on their website which you can book. These include red pandas, sloths, lemurs, big cat feeding, white rhinos, racoons and more. Prices vary but most are around £20-30. They can also host your party.
