South Shields Museum and Art Gallery are located in the centre of South Shields, Tyne and Wear. The museum celebrates the rich heritage of South Tyneside and the people who shaped it. There are two floors of displays that tell the story of the borough’s social, industrial and maritime history from 4,000 years ago to the present day.
There is a range of exhibitions and some nationally significant works of art. They even have a creature corner which is home to their resident reptiles and insects. The museum hosts a number of annual events, some of which are great for families.
