Stephenson Steam Railway

Stephenson Steam Railway

The Stephenson Steam Railway is located in Wallsend near North Shields, Tyne and Wear. Their steam train trips will make you feel like you have travelled back in time.

The railway is 2 miles long and it’s an industrial line that passes the factories and businesses that it once served. You will ride in style in their 1950s British railways carriages. At Middle Engine Lane station you will be able to see a large variety of wagons and rail vehicles that were once a common sight on the Tyneside railways.

Indoors there is a museum that has a range of steam, diesel and electric locomotives on display, each has a fascinating story to tell. You can visit the cab of Clio and try your hand at driving a steam engine on their simulator. They host a number of annual events throughout the year.
