Strathaven Park

Strathaven Park

Strathaven Park is located in Strathaven, Lanarkshire. It is a beautiful and peaceful area in the heart of the busy market town. It is made up of two smaller parks that are joined with John Hastle Park. There is bowling and putting greens plus two football pitches and tennis courts. The other is the George Allan Park. This has a boating pond, a miniature railway and an ornate band-stand installed in 1902.

The park has large open spaces and attractive flower beds. In the summer you can enjoy boating on the pond and a railway journey. It is also used for its famous Duck Race down the Burn, an annual Balloon Festival and Gala celebrations. There is also a children’s play area.

The miniature railway is officially Scotland’s oldest miniature railway. It is run by volunteers and trains run from Early April till the last weekend of September at weekends and public holidays, weather permitting. More information can be found on their website.
