Strathspey Railway

Strathspey Railway

The Strathspey Railway in Badenoch and Strathspey in the Scottish Highlands operates a ten-mile heritage railway from Aviemore to Broomhill via Boat of Garten.

They invite you to step aboard their trains and celebrate their railway that was brought back to life in 1978 by a group of dedicated volunteers. Their restored section of the original Highland Railway Line enables you to travel back in time to the steam era.

The return trip lasts around 1 hour and 45 minutes. Trains depart from Aviemore and then visit the Boat of Garten and Broomhill stations. The trains are usually steam-hauled but this is subject to change. The train journey will take you past moorland, through woods and alongside the River Spey. You will be able to enjoy the stunning Cairngorm Mountains on a nostalgic journey. They host a number of annual events including Santa specials.
