Streetlife Museum

The Streetlife Museum is a wonderful free museum perfect for families. Located in the Old Town in Hull, East Yorkshire with other free museums close by.

Things to do at Streetlife Museum

The museum takes you through 200 years of transport history with trains, trams, cars, carriages and more. There’s a lovely 1940s street and the whole museum gives you a sense that you’ve stepped back in time. There are six galleries to explore.

The 6 galleries include a look at the history of bicycles. In another, you can see some of the finest carriages including the realistic smell from the stables. There’s a surprise ride on a coach as well, make sure you don’t miss this as it was the highlight of our visit.

Other galleries include a look at motor cars with cars from 1897 onwards. There is the Streetscene gallery with reconstructed shops and another favourite of ours the railway gallery. There is so much to see it’s easy to miss things out so make sure you retrace your steps. A lot of the exhibitions have interactive displays perfect for kids and they can climb on board trams and more.
