Suffolk Owl Sanctuary
The Suffolk Owl Sanctuary is located in Stonham Barns Park near Stowmarket. It opens its doors to visitors daily and has regular flying demonstrations and/or talks all year round. There are many birds of prey that are displayed or on view at the centre.
Things to do at the Suffolk Owl Sanctuary
Once inside the sanctuary, you can take a leisurely stroll around their aviaries where you can observe their birds close up. They also have red squirrels and ferrets that you can see in their woodland walk. Plus there are meerkats and they even offer special meerkat experiences (at an additional cost).
In the discovery centre, you can learn facts about owls and other birds of prey with interactive displays and exhibits. For the kids, there is a mini maze and a custom-built play area that features wheelchair-accessible equipment and a tumble-safe surface. There is also a covered sandpit on-site.
In their new extension to the sanctuary, there are some of their larger birds including Golden eagles, Tawny eagles and ravens. They can even host your child’s birthday party. The centre mostly offers adult bird of prey experiences but there is a Young falconers course for children from the age of 10.
