The Battle of Bannockburn Visitor Centre

Bannockburn is a major landmark in Scottish History and today the battle site now has a visitor centre. Located near Stirling this site saw a victory of King of Scots, Robert the Bruce over the army of King Edward II of England back in 1314.

What is there to do at The Battle of Bannockburn Visitor Centre?

In the visitor centre, you can witness a digitally re-created version of the battle. You can find out how warriors, pages, knights and civilians on either side of the conflict became involved and what role they played. In the memorial park, you can follow in the footsteps of Robert the Bruce and see the spot where he raised his royal standard.

The Battle of Bannockburn experience puts you in the heart of the action. Outside and around the centre you can truly appreciate the surrounding landscape and the restored commemorative monuments including the iconic statue of Robert the Bruce cast in shimmering bronze. There are a series of films and exhibits which depict the events, before, during and after the battle.

Please be aware that some of the films are pretty brutal and the experience is more suited to visitors aged 7 and over. The tour takes around 60 minutes and you will be on your feet for most of it, it is also quite chilly inside so take a jacket if you get cold easily.

Is there food and drink available?

There is a cafe serving hot and cold food and drinks. You are welcome to bring a picnic.

What are the main things to do?

A visitor centre with exhibits and state-of-the-art films that bring the battle back to life, there are grounds with sculptures. There are toilets and a cafe.

What are the ticket prices?

An adult ticket costs £7.50, children £5.50. Family tickets are available. These prices are for the Battle of Bannockburn Experience. You can visit the site, cafe, shop and toilets for free.
