The Cats Whiskers
The Cat’s Whiskers is a cat cafe located in the centre of York, North Yorkshire. Children (and their adults) can attend a session with their cats from the age of 10. Prebooking online in advance is highly recommended and popular slots can book up to a week or more in advance.
You book a timed session and enter as a group. Their cats are mostly from rescue centres and many of them end up being rehomed. The cafe relies on footfall to pay the bills and look after the cats so there is an entrance fee (see below). Sessions are for one hour.
There are two floors with a couple of small rooms upstairs and a larger room downstairs with mostly casual seating. The cats can be quite shy and you can encourage them with one of the many toys they have hanging around the place. We were lucky when we went as they’d just taken in a litter of kittens which we were all allowed in to see in our small household groups.
