The Dock Museum

The Dock Museum

The Dock Museum is located in Barrow-in-Furness in Cumbria. It enjoys a coastal setting and is located on the edge of the Lake District. The Dock building is a grade II* listed building and it was first in use in 1872. Most of the museum’s exhibits relate to the history of the town with a focus on the shipbuilding industry. Plus what was once the world’s largest steelworks industry, the Furness railway and the WWII bombings of the town.

Outside there is a sea-themed playground with picnic benches for you to explore. Fishing boats are moored at the pier near the museum which is interesting to see. Inside there are themed galleries and family-friendly quizzes.
