The Georgian House Museum
Museum Overview
The Georgian House Museum is a six-storey Georgian townhouse located in the centre of Bristol. Inside you can discover what a Bristol sugar plantation and slave owner’s home might have looked like around 1790.
There are eleven rooms you can explore across four of the floors with fine collections of paintings, costumes and period furnishings. You can discover what life was like above and below stairs from the kitchen in the basement to the elegant formal rooms above.
In the kitchen and laundry, you can spot all sorts of interesting features including a hidden staircase, a small lift, a range of bells, the Housekeeper’s room and a cold water plunge pool that was used by the master of the house. Above the stairs, you will see the Dining Room, Pinney’s study, the Drawing room, the library, a ladies’ withdrawing room and the bedroom.
