The London Tunnels
Opening in the future – The London Tunnels will take you beneath the city’s streets to the extraordinary Kingsway Exchange Tunnels. A mile‑long labyrinth originally built between 1940 and 1942 as a wartime shelter during the Blitz.
These vast, secret passageways are steeped in intrigue: after the war, they housed the first transatlantic telephone cable, served as a Cold War communications hub, and even inspired the famous “Q Branch” in the James Bond novels. Now, a major transformation is underway. This subterranean complex is being re‑imagined as one of London’s most unique cultural destinations. Combining heritage, immersive digital experiences, and next‑level architecture.
Set between the West End and the historic Square Mile, the location couldn’t be more central.
What you can expect when it opens:
- Walk through deep‑level corridors built for survival and secrecy.
- Interactive heritage zones exploring WW2, the Cold War and spy history.
- Multi‑sensory installations with immersive screens, soundscapes and cutting‑edge tech.
- A licensed underground bar (rumoured to become the deepest in the UK) and special event spaces.
While the full attraction is planned for a phased opening in the late 2020s, you can follow its progress now and plan ahead for a visit to one of London’s most thrilling upcoming destinations
