The Nature Discovery Centre
The Nature Discovery Centre in Thatcham Berkshire is a nature reserve with three flooded gravel quarries.
What is there to do at The Nature Discovery Centre?
The centre itself is full of interactive wildlife and natural history displays which families will enjoy looking at. Around the lakes, there is a network of footpaths. There is a range of walk lengths from short family-friendly walks to longer paths for the more adventurous. There is a map on their website which you can download.
The centre also hosts a wide range of events and activities many of which are aimed at families. These include guided bird walks, nature tot sessions, clubs for different age ranges of children and more. It’s a great way to get kids interested in nature and to learn from experts.
There is a large adventure playground. The area for older children has a huge wooden multi-storey climbing frame, with a tunnel slide, obstacle course and zip wire. For younger children, there is a separate area with plenty of play equipment including rockers, slides, a fireman’s pole, a small climbing frame, balance beams and swings.
