The Town Mill Dorset
The Town Mill is a 600-year-old working watermill located in Lyme Regis, Dorset. It was rescued from dereliction by some local volunteers and is situated just minutes from the high street and seafront. This ancient watermill is open to visitors. The unique story of The Town Mill is recounted by their volunteer millers who mill stoneground wholemeal flour and who keep this special place open for everyone to enjoy.
There are restored mill buildings set around a cobbled courtyard. There is the working flour watermill and shop plus an art gallery, restaurant, silversmith, seamstress and more. When the mill is open you are able to explore at your own pace.
You can also book guided tours of the mill. This is the best way to experience the mill. You will be shown around all three floors of the mill and learn more about its history. A miller will also demonstrate the milling process and show you how flour is made. There are some interactive exhibits including raising a sack hoist and milling grain. The tour lasts for 1 hour.
