Trolleybus Museum Sandtoft
Museum Overview
We are supporters of small charity-run attractions and we will fully support them as much as we can. This is one of those hidden gems that will bring you a day out very different from most. You need to fully embrace your day out there and ride on the trams at least twice and take their double-decker bus journey around the villages. If you don’t do these things you won’t spend long there. If you do you have yourself a day out.
When you purchase your tickets you get a coin each to exchange for your Trolleybus rides. There are usually two to three trolleybuses in rotation throughout the day. There is a series of lines around the site which you ride a few times around.
Also at the Trolleybus museum, they also have a 1950s-style bungalow, a cinema, a museum of toys and a miniature railway to look at. You can also walk around the hangar where they store all their trolleybuses (they need to move a few out so people can walk around easier).
It is worth going on the afternoon bus ride around the local villages on one of their double-decker buses. You get a live commentary and it certainly adds to the day out. This is included in your ticket. There is a very small play area that needs some TLC. But hopefully, you will visit and they can afford to upgrade this soon. There is part of a bus in the cafe that kids can play in.
