Upfront Puppet Theatre

The Upfront Puppet Theatre is located near Hutton-in-the-forest in Cumbria. It is one of only four dedicated puppet theatres in England and it has its own theatre building and workshops. They are situated near Penrith in beautifully converted 19th-century farm buildings.

Their puppet theatre productions vary throughout the year. The first production was in 2004 and the organisation is now run as a charity. free, lance puppeteers and makers are employed for each production. These are usually in Easter, Summer and at Christmas.
The venue has 144 seats and has been designed to high standards of environmental sustainability. They support a young people’s puppet performance group. Many of the productions have a fairytale theme.
