Wakehurst

Wakehurst Wakehurst

Wakehurst is a Botanic Garden located in Haywards Heath in the heart of Sussex. Previously known as Wakehurst Palace it is owned by the National Trust but used and managed by the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.

There are over 500 acres of diverse landscapes and plants from around the world to see and explore. Highlights include the Westwood Balley which is a woodland landscape inspired by the eastern Himalayas. Plus the Slips and Black Pond with boardwalks and aquatic plants on the way to their serene pond.

Other areas include an American Prairie, a bog garden and a children’s walled garden with mud kitchen and meadows. There is a Pinetum, Millennium Seed bank, pollination garden, rock walk and so much more. They also have a recently refreshed Tree Trunk Trek for children which is a fun natural play area.

There are other natural play spaces scattered around with a Labyrinth, wooden carvings and more. The Wild Wood trail is their new sculpture trail in Pearcelands Wood. Their woodland has been transformed by a natural gallery of hand-woven structures.
