West Midlands Police Museum
The West Midlands Police Museum is located in a Victorian cell block on Steelhouse Lane in the centre of Birmingham. It was operational from 1891 until 2016.
Inside you will be transported back in time as you learn about two centuries of policing history. You will discover what it was really like to spend time on both sides of the bars. There is also the opportunity to learn more about some of Birmingham’s most notorious criminals who were held at the real lock-up including the real Peaky Blinders.
In their forensics lab, you can investigate and solve crimes. There is also a family-friendly lock-up mouse trail to follow that has been designed for younger children. They have hands-on interactive displays, a police uniform for kids to play dress up and you can take your own mugshot. On display, there is a real police box, police motorcycles, a life-size police horse, pictures and memorabilia.
