West Somerset Railway
The West Somerset Railway is a heritage railway and at 20 miles it is the longest heritage line in the UK. It operates between Minehead and Bishop’s Lydeard near Taunton in Somerset.
Things to do at West Somerset Railway
The train journey takes in some lovely countryside with historic steam locomotives, coaches and wagons. There are 10 stations linked by a 20-mile scenic journey. There are a number of attractions and things to see and do along the way. Many of the stations are accessible to the local village where you will find places to eat and they are usually worth a wander around.

The railway hosts a number of events, including many especially for families such as Halloween trains, character meet and greets, Santa and more. They also run special train services where food is included on the train such as fish and chips and afternoon cream teas.

There is somewhere to purchase food and drinks at or near most stations. They also run services with dining. You are welcome to bring a picnic.

An adult ticket costs £20, children 5-17 £10 and children aged under 5 are free. Special events and dining services may cost more.

Is there parking?
Car parking is available at key stations, some of which are pay and display. There is limited free parking at Bishops Lydeard, Crowcombe Heathfield, Stogumber, Williton, and Dunster. There are pay and display car parks at Watchet and Minehead.

Dog friendly?
Dogs are permitted to travel on standard West Somerset railway services however are not permitted to travel in the buffet car, or in any carriage where catering is being served by the company.
