Winchester Cathedral
Winchester Cathedral is the cathedral of the city of Winchester, Hampshire. It is among the largest of its kind in Northern Europe and is open to visitors. The cathedral as it stands today was built from 1079 to 1532 and is dedicated to a number of saints. It is the longest medieval cathedral in the world with an overall length of 558 feet, it is also one of the biggest in size in the UK.
There are grounds and gardens you can walk around plus you can explore most of the interior of the cathedral. There is an exhibition, Birth of a Nation, that explores over 1,000 years of the history of the cathedral. It is a spectacular three-level exhibition space which also offers awe-inspiring views of the cathedral. There is a free children’s trail and they host a wide range of activities and events such as holiday activities and open-air theatre.
