Museum Overview
The Wirral Transport Museum and Heritage Tramway are located in Birkenhead, Merseyside. It is home to the first street tramway in Europe and you can visit to see a variety of restored trams and buses.
You can enjoy a ride on board a fully restored working electric heritage tram where the memories of a bygone age will come flooding back. You can also look around their museum and the depot where you can see their collection of heritage trams, vintage buses, classic cars and motorbikes. There is also a huge working model railway.
Trams operate a half-hourly return service between Woodside and the museum starting at 1 pm from Woodside with the final tram departing from Woodside at 4:30 pm. They are open at weekends and bank holidays plus Wirral School holidays from Wednesday – Sunday (closed for Christmas and New Year).
