Woolwich Waves is part of the new Woolwich Leisure Centre and centres around a large Aqua Park and leisure pool designed for families. The main leisure pool has a gradual depth and plenty of open space for general swimming and a layout that works well for mixed‑age groups. Around the pool are several water play features, including sprays, small tipping elements and gentle fountains, perfect for younger children. The splash area is shallow, bright and easy to supervise, with low‑level water play that suits toddlers and early swimmers who prefer a calmer activity.

The slides sit on the opposite side of the pool and are one of the main reasons families visit. They vary in height and speed, with a couple of wider, slower slides suitable for children who are still building confidence, and a faster enclosed slide aimed at older kids and teens. None of the slides are extreme, but they offer enough variety for children to repeat them without getting bored. Height restrictions are clearly displayed, and the queuing area is positioned so adults can keep an eye on children using the slides while still watching younger siblings in the main pool.

Alongside the Aqua Park, the centre includes a dedicated teaching pool used for lessons and quieter sessions, plus a full leisure centre setup with a gym, fitness studios and sports courts. The building is modern throughout. Changing rooms include family cubicles, accessible facilities and simple locker systems. Being close to Woolwich town centre makes it easy to combine a visit with shops, transport links or a walk along the river, and it works well as a reliable indoor option for families looking for a simple, weather‑proof activity.

The leisure centre also includes a soft play area, which sits separately from the pools and works well for younger children who prefer dry‑side activities. It’s a compact but well‑designed space with padded climbing sections, small slides, crawl tunnels and low‑level obstacles suitable for toddlers and early primary‑age children. The layout is simple enough for easy supervision, and the equipment is arranged so that children can move around without bottlenecks or blind spots.
