Museum Overview

The World Museum in Liverpool, Merseyside is a large museum housing extensive collections with special attractions including the National History Centre and a planetarium. The museum is the oldest in Liverpool and it first opened in 1853.

There is plenty at the museum to keep children interested with a Bug House where they can get up close to beetles and flies, spiders, scorpions, centipedes and more. Plus they have an aquarium, with a range of tanks including a variety of species and immersive projections.

The Exhibition tells the story of life on Earth through a series of displays that will take you on a journey around the world and through time. There is a Bones and Stones display, full-size dinosaur skeletons and more.

There are also other permanent galleries including an Ancient Egypt display, World Cultures gallery and their ticketed Planetarium. The Planetarium runs a weekly schedule with a variety of shows including Mini-gazers, relaxed screenings, From Earth to the Universe and so much more. Please note there is a charge to watch something in the Planetarium.
