I don’t know about you but I’m more of a glamper than a camper. Now don’t get me wrong I love any kind of holiday and we do own a tent but there’s nothing quite like having extra comforts while you have a ‘wild’ stay somewhere. I’ve found some interesting-looking glamping sites across Yorkshire that I’d like to share with you.
Some of the sites have facilities and things to do others are all about spending some quality time with your family without the distractions of everyday life. This post will cover what kind of accommodation each site has, what the main facilities are and if there is anything to do there. Plus I will include ideas for places to visit in the local area. Acklam Farm Stays Glamping Experiences – North Yorkshire

Location – Manor Farm, Acklam, Malton YO17 9RR
A Bit About – They have two self-contained glamping units. The Shepherds Lookout and the Hobbits Dell. They are a small working sheep and cattle farm located on the edge of the Yorkshire Wilds. Staying at the farm you will wake up to spectacular views across seventy miles of countryside.
Accommodation – Shepherds Lookout – Sleeps four guests. It includes a double and a single bunk above plus another single bed that pulls out from underneath the double. The hut is entirely off the grid and does not have electricity. There is a log burner with a 1-ring gas stove for pans and a kettle. There is an off-grid shower in the woods which is also used by other glampers. There is a compost toilet.
The Hobbits Dell – This is their new off-grid landpod. It sleeps up to four with a double bed, a smaller single bunk above and an adult-size futon. There is no wood burner but it is well insulated (you may want to bring hot water bottles). It has a solar panel with two USB charging points. There is a compost toilet close to the pod and a shared shower in a shack.
Things to do on-site – You can book a farmhouse breakfast (additional cost) which is served in their courtyard. In the spring you can book on one of their Lambing Experiences and they also offer Farm Tours. On the farm tour, you will discover what life is like on a working farm.
A Place in the Pines – North Yorkshire

Location – Keepers Cottage, Thimbleby DL6 3PY
A Bit About – Easy to get to and not too far off the main road are four canvas lodges set about 60 metres apart from each other. They each have their own bathroom, kitchen, deck and personality. The super-stoves inside keep the whole family warm at night and they can slow cook a joint at the same time.
Accommodation – Coulter is a rustic-styled lodge that is tastefully decorated with reclaimed wood and soft furnishings. There is a double bedroom, a bunk bed and a single bed. There is a bathroom with a bath/shower, toilet and a sink. Plus a log burner and a private deck with seating and a BBQ. All lodges have hot running water, electric lighting and plug sockets, a large fridge, a sink with a gas hob and more.
Things to do on-site – You can collect your own eggs for breakfast from their hens in the morning. There are sheep, pigs and ponies in the next field who appreciate a carrot or apple. You can hop over the fence and explore the Yorkshire Moors.
Aston Springs Farm – South Yorkshire

A Bit About – This is a farm park that offers a Farmstay experience plus VIP animal experiences. New to the farm they have a glamping bell tent where once the park is closed with can have the entire farm, animals and play area all to yourself for the night.
Accommodation – 5-metre bell tent with a king-size bed and two single futons for any accompanying children. You can enjoy a BBQ over the fire pit with outside seating. There are eco-friendly toilets and handwashing facilities. There are no electricity or shower facilities. You can also stay over and bring your own tent.
Things to do on-site – As mentioned above you will have the farm park all to yourselves once it has closed for the day. You can feed their animals and play in their play areas to your heart’s content.
Camp Katur – North Yorkshire

A Bit About – Nestled in the beautiful Camp Hill Estate is a glamping experience with a vast choice of accommodation options. The Meadow is off the grid with a quirky range of accommodations including Yurts, Safari tents, Pods and clear Unidomes. Hill Farm has stargazing geodomes with log burners and electricity (a new addition for 2021). Chestnut Hill has two high-quality geodomes with stunning views plus a lodge great for families.
Accommodation – As mentioned above there is a vast range of glamping accommodation at Camp Katur. Most are big enough to accommodate families and have a range of facilities. Some have their own bathrooms others share a cabin with wash facilities.
Things to do on-site – There is the Swing Park, The Woodland Kingdom Children’s area, forest walks and pathways plus their very own pub the Hebridean which serves local ale and food. They also offer experiences for an additional charge these include bird watching, den building workshop, stargazing and more. The play area has been made from reclaimed natural timber and has ropes, slides and more.
Catgill Farm Camping and Glamping – North Yorkshire

A Bit About – Recently expanded the site now has glamping timber pods and bell tents. The site has spectacular views across the Wharfe Valley and there is a small stream that meanders through the site.
Accommodation – Their timber pods can sleep up to 6 people. There is a double bed, a bunk bed and a sofa bed. They each have their own unique woodland scheme and inside there is a small fitted kitchen, a wet room and a comfortable seating area. There is electricity and a private hot tub, shower, toilet and pizza oven.
Their bell tents can sleep 4 people with a double bed and 2 futons. There is a private washroom, a wood-burning stove, a hot tub, a fire pit with a pizza oven and electricity. The site also offers camping pitches should you want to bring your own tent.
Things to do on-site – Fire baskets can be hired from reception. The farm is close to many popular cycling routes. here is a morning coffee shop, a shop and local walks. The farm is also a great place for stargazing.
Cayton Village Experience Freedom Glamping – North Yorkshire

A Bit About – You can discover the beauty of North Yorkshire from the quiet Cayton Village. It is perfectly located for visiting the North Yorkshire Moors and is situated just 4 miles south of Scarborough.
Accommodation – There are glamping cabins including accessible cabins plus glamping pods, yurts and you can bring your own tent. The yurts feature a reclaimed timber king-sized bed, two single beds and extra blankets. Sleeps 2 adults and 2 children.
Their luxury Glamping Pods come with comfy bedding, en-suite bathroom facilities and cooking equipment. Sleeps 2 adults and 2 children. You can enjoy all your creature comforts in their Glamping Cabins. With comfy bedding, en-suite bathroom facilities and integrated veranda. Sleeps 6 (up to 4 adults). Their website is not clear which glamping options include electric/bathroom facilities.
Things to do on-site – The local area can easily be explored by bike with the National Cycle Route 1 just outside the site. BBQs are permitted and so are dogs. The site also has a play area.
Clairon Lodge Campsite and Wigwams – West Yorkshire

A Bit About – As well as having glamping cabins the site also offers tent, caravan and motorhome pitches. It is open all year round with easy access to walking, climbing and cycling.
Accommodation – They have spacious Big Chief Wigwam Cabins which offer glamping in fully heated, insulated timber cabins. Each cabin sleeps a family of up to five people and includes comfy mattresses, heating, lighting, electric sockets, fridge, kettle, microwave and toaster with shared wash facilities.
Things to do on-site – There doesn’t appear to be anything to do on-site but it is in a good location for exploring.
Where to visit in the local area – Chevin Forest Park, Wharfemeadows Park.
High Oaks Grange – North Yorkshire

A Bit About – High Oaks Grange is a collection of luxury lodges plus glamping accommodations in the North York Moors National Park. Their exclusively designed family pods are the perfect size for a family of 2 adults and 2 children with spacious interiors and magnificent views.
Accommodation – There is a lounge, kitchen, a luxurious king-size bed and bespoke bunk beds at the rear. The pod even has a TV and a fitted kitchen. There are charging points and a wet room with a toilet, sink and shower plus heating via a radiator. The pod has a decked area with a BBQ. Dogs are welcome.
Things to do on-site – There doesn’t appear to be anything to do on-site facility-wise but there is plenty to do in the local area.
Humble Bee Farm Glamping – North Yorkshire

A Bit About – They have a range of accommodation options at the farm including Premium Wigwam lodges with electric hot tubs, Deluxe Wigman cabins with wood-fired hot tubs, Big Chief Wigwam cabins, Nomadic Yurts, Bell tents plus pitches for caravans and tents. Experience Humble Bee farm and meet the farmyard gang, collect eggs and make new friends in the play area or sports field. Dogs are welcome.
Accommodation – As mentioned above there is a vast range of glamping accommodations at Humble Bee Farm. Most are big enough to accommodate families and have a range of facilities. Some have their own bathrooms others share a cabin with wash facilities.
Things to do on-site – You can walk on their trail around the farm, collect eggs and see their animals. There is a BBQ hut, a sports field and a small play area.
Jollydays Glamping – North Yorkshire

A Bit About – The site is set in 200 acres of magical woodland which can only be accessed by one small private road. At Jollydays you are well and truly away from busy city life. Said to be the first people in the UK crazy enough to put a roll-top bath in a tent.
Accommodation – They have woodland tents and woodland huts. The tents are great for families as they are huge and better equipped than yurts. It can sleep up to 6 people with 1 king-size bed, 2 single beds and 2 single sofa beds. There is a large wood-burning stove, a kitchen, own shower room with toilet and roll-top bath, a fridge and a veranda with BBQ.
Their woodcutter huts can sleep up to 4 people with a kingsize bed and 1 double sofa bed. There is a private kitchen shed, a private shower and toilet hut, a large cool box, a wood-burning stove and a veranda with a BBQ.
Things to do on-site – Just next door and part of Jollydays you will find the Northwood Fairy Trail which is a really lovely place to visit. You can enjoy a variety of teas and coffee in their communal tea tent. There is also a log store and shop with an honesty system. Wood-fired hot tubs are available to hire from a local supplier. They also have their own artisan woodland kitchen and bar.
Kingfisher Lakes Glamping – East Riding of Yorkshire

A Bit About – It is a small site perfect for families surrounded by fields and big skies. Nestled in between two lakes with the chance to enjoy a spot of fishing, paddle on the lakes on one of their kayaks, toast marshmallows and do a bit of stargazing.
Accommodation – They have a variety of glamping tents including Dragonfly Dreams Safari Lodge which sleeps up to 10 people. It has 3 bedrooms separated by wooden walls. Plus a wood-burning stove, a kitchen, electric lighting, a fridge and more with access to shared wash facilities.
They have smaller glamping safari tents that sleep 4-6 people, another larger safari lodge which sleeps up to 7 people, cosy yurts for up to 4 people and bell tents. The facilities for these accommodation options do vary so please check on their website before you book.
Things to do on-site – There is kayak hire, you can hire fire pits, and purchase breakfast hampers. You can also fish so long as you bring your own equipment and have the correct rod licence.
Little Wold Away Glamping – East Riding of Yorkshire

A Bit About – Little Wold Away is a new glamping retreat in East Yorkshire located in beautiful woodland. They have two well-designed luxury pods which are perfect for families to enjoy.
Accommodation – Their cosy underfloor heated pods sleep up to 4 people. There is a double bed, a sofa bed and a fully fitted shower room with a toilet. There is a fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster and more. Each pod has a generous decking area, a brick-built BBQ and a fire pit.
Things to do on-site – There are no main facilities on-site.
North Shire – North Yorkshire

Location – Liverton, Saltburn-by-the-Sea TS13 4TJ
A Bit About – Set in 6 acres of beautiful countryside in the North York Moors. You can expect a magical and unique family holiday in their choice of glamping accommodation. With a Shire House (think hobbit house), Ground Keeper’s cottage and Shepherd’s huts.
Accommodation – Their Shire house can accommodate up to 6 people. There is a fully fitted kitchen and luxury bathroom. The Ground keeper’s cottage is configured as three interlocking circular rooms with squat medieval-looking turrets and mismatched stained glass windows.
It sleeps up to 6 people and has a kitchen, two bedrooms and a bathroom (this is the luxury cottage end of glamping accommodation if it even can be described as glamping. The Shepherd’s huts can suit a family of 4 to 5. They have a small kitchen area, electric fan heater, a luxury king-size bed and a day bed for 2 single beds (5 5-person hut has bunk beds). These have separate toilet facilities.
Things to do on-site – They have free-range hens and various farm animal residents. There are peacocks, chickens, miniature ponies, horses and goats. They also have a few pitches for tents and caravans.
North Star Club – North Yorkshire

A Bit About – This is an upmarket woodland complex offering rustic-chic cabins with verandas and BBQ facilities. Set within 500 acres of English woodland in the Yorkshire Wolds. The site was inspired by the legendary American Great Camps and blends beautifully into the untamed forest setting.
Accommodation – The club has 8 private and well-spaced woodland suites decorated in a rustic style. They have a large veranda with a BBQ. There is a double bedroom, a separate bedroom with a bunk bed and a large bathroom with a toilet and a roll-top bath. There is off-grid electricity and a wood burner, there is even a fridge.
Things to do on-site – There is a communal chill-out area with an indoor fire pit plus an outdoor communal area where you can sit around a fire and toast marshmallows. They even offer on-site pampering for an additional charge.
Pinewood Park – North Yorkshire – North Yorkshire

A Bit About – At Pinewood Park, you can choose from a range of different sizes and types of glamping accommodation, all are heated and weatherproof. They have 5 different tariffs and are committed to being affordable in school holidays (we can vouch for this as we are booked for this August and it’s very reasonably priced). Kids also stay free of charge.
Accommodation – There is such a large range of choices there is simply too much to list here. They have ranch retreats with hot tubs with two single beds, a double bed, a fridge, heating and more. They also have pitches for caravans, motorhomes and tents. Their glamping accommodation does not have its own toilets/shower facilities. They have wash blocks for their glampers and campers to use.
Other types of glamping accommodation include Woody’s wagons which resemble an old Wild West chuck wagon. There are family retreat lodges with hot tubs, Tipi retreats with hot tubs, Camping shacks, Canvas Tipi tents, Tree cabins, Woodcutter’s retreat cabins and glamping huts. They even now have converted helicopters that you can stay in.
Things to do on-site – Some of the accommodation comes with your own private outdoor hot tub. You can explore their seven-acre site and there’s plenty to do nearby. There is a large playfield where kids can play safely.
Skipbridge Farm Glamping – North Yorkshire

A Bit About – Skipbridge Farm Glamping is located in the heart of North Yorkshire. You can relish the joys of camping and the outdoors without any hassle. They provide bell tents and hand-made 100% recycled wood glamping pods with rustic and tasteful interiors.
Accommodation – They have 4m and 5m bell tents. The 5m tents have up to 1 single bed and 2 double beds. They can provide various bed layouts. They also have glamping pods that can sleep, 2 adults and 1 child. These can be booked with wood-fired hot tubs. There is a large toilet block with showers plus tea and coffee facilities.
Things to do on-site – Based on their farm they have various animals right next to where you are staying. The alpacas will come right up to see you and they also have goats, donkeys and horses that may come over for a stroke. They also offer tours of their vineyard (additional cost). They are currently installing a big pizza oven.
Swinton Bivouac – North Yorkshire

A Bit About – Set in the woodland on the Swinton estate you will find 6 tree lodges. Their charming and secluded glamping lodges are hidden away and can sleep up to seven people. Closer to the cafe and reception area they also have a field with meadow yurts.
Accommodation – The tree lodges have one king-size, one double and three singles all across three mezzanine floors within the lodge. They have gas rings for cooking, hot water, a toilet, shower and bed linen. They don’t have any electricity. The meadow yurts can sleep up to four people with one double and two single beds. There is a wood-burning stove, the yurts have no electricity. You can also hire out their wooden hot tubs.
Things to do on-site – There is the use of a meadow tipi with a firepit (subject to availability). The lodges are set in the same woodland as the Druid’s temple. The exact date of construction for the temple is unknown. Although it is said to have been built by William Danby (owner of Swinton Estate and nearby Swinton Park) in the late 1700s. There is also a small toddler play area next to the cafe.
The Hideaway at Baxby Manor – North Yorkshire

A Bit About – The Hideaway is nestled on the medieval 700-year-old Baxby Manor estate on the edge of the village of Husthwaited. They have various camping pitches plus Rufus’s Roost which is a stunning wood cabin. Plus their hobbit house glamping pods and eco pods.
Accommodation – Their Hobbit Houses are really cute and we stayed in one a couple of years ago. They can sleep up to four with a double bed, a single bed and a single bunk bed. There is a log burner, a gas stove and kettle, outdoor seating, a fire pit, solar fairy lights and a designated parking space. The Family Eco Pods sleep up to 2 adults and 2 children with a double bed and bunk beds. Their glamping accommodation has use of their shower block with toilets.
Things to do on-site – There is a shop plus a communal fridge and freezer. You can hire tripod BBQs. The local village is a short walk away with a playground and an excellent restaurant.
Wensleydale Glamping Pods – North Yorkshire

Location – Woodend Farm, Redmire, Leyburn DL8 4HB
A Bit About – Their farm is located in Redmire just a short drive from Leyburn in Wensleydale. The glamping site enjoys panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. It is a traditional livestock farm which may mean you sometimes experience farm life. They can even offer guided tours by prior arrangement.
Accommodation – They have three luxury en-suite pods made of timber. There is a double bed and a sofa bed which can sleep, two children. There is even a TV, a microwave, fridge, toaster and kettle. Plus a shower, toilet and sink. The cabins have underfloor heating and Wi-Fi.
Things to do on-site – Your pods have their own private outside space and you can hire a firepit/bbq. You can also hire a wood-fired hot tub (must be booked in advance) and a gas BBQ.
