There are some magical events happening this festive period in the South East of England in 2023 and some are yet to be confirmed. I’ve put them into one big post so you can search for the best Christmas events near you in the South East – in Berkshire – Buckinghamshire – London – East Sussex – West Sussex – Hampshire – Isle of Wight – Kent – Oxfordshire – Surrey where you can meet Santa and more. Don’t forget to book in advance this winter so your festive cheer isn’t left feeling disappointed.
Please double-check the event descriptions on the attraction’s website as the below information could change. It is essential that you read their own information carefully, some venues require you to prebook.
There’s nothing like attending an event before Christmas Day and enjoying the festive atmosphere. Plus many places have some amazing Christmas decorations, previous years have been a testament to that.

Finkley Down – Magical Christmas – Hampshire – Tickets on sale
On arrival, you will collect your Christmas Passport, allowing you to participate in all of the magical fun. You will also collect your letter to send to Father Christmas via the Intergalactic Post Box using a special golden ball! As you complete each of the activities, the Elves will stamp your passport. Passport Control is open from 9:50 a.m.
Each child will go up individually to meet Father Christmas, and you will be surprised how much he knows about each of them. So, fingers crossed, they will all be on the good list!

Look out for the Festive Lodge and enter a magical world of twinkling trees, snow, sparkling lights and festive decorations to meet Father Christmas himself, who will be waiting to give the children a jolly wave and an extra special “ho-ho-ho”.
Our usual admissions apply. The farm will be open all day with a full schedule of your favourite animal activities to enjoy.
As a gift is not given, there is no additional charge to enter the Festive Lodge or to see Father Christmas.

Bekonscot Model Village and Railway – Santa Weekend – Buckinghamshire – Tickets on Sale
In his new Winter Wonderland Grotto in the picnic area, Santa will be welcoming visits from children between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. with a special gift for everyone.

See Father Christmas in a ‘Grotto with a Difference’ – on a vintage steam train! Why queue for hours when you can sit on a steam train and wait for Santa to come to you?! You will be shown to your compartment on the steam train, and you will be taken up and down our 1/3 mile length of track whilst you wait for Father Christmas, who will be making his way along the train visiting all the children.
When he comes to you, one of his elves will pull gifts for the children from his huge toy sack! Once your train arrives back at Platform 4, make your way to the Pantomime seating at the far end of the Visitor Centre, sit back and enjoy the show! Enjoy the festive Christmas atmosphere inside our large Visitor Centre with decorations, a huge Christmas tree, festive music, plus a cafe and gift shop.

Didcot Railway Centre – Steam into Christmas – Oxfordshire – Tickets on sale
Kids, there’s been a disaster, Santa’s reindeer have all escaped and are lost – you know that he needs them to deliver all the presents on Christmas Eve.
We need your help!
Can you help him find them? Explore the unique collection of Great Western Railway steam locomotives, carriages, wagons, buildings and small artefacts at our 21 acre museum set around the original 1932 engine shed whilst you locate all of the reindeer stations.
You’ll all receive a special passport and a stocking as you enter and as a reward, at each reindeer station, you’ll receive a small gift. Your visit will culminate with a visit to Santa in our giant toy workshop where he’ll hear what you want to get for Christmas and you’ll get to choose your own gift from the selection on offer. Your entry ticket will also include unlimited train rides on our main demonstration line.v

Fairytale Farm – Christmas Fairytale – Oxfordshire – Tickets on sale
Tickets are now on sale for our Christmas Fairytale event 2023, which runs on Saturdays and Sundays from 2nd to 10th December, then daily from 11th December to Christmas Eve. Our Grotto is open until 5pm, except on Saturday and Sunday 9th, 10th, 16th, 17th and daily 21st to 23rd December, when it remains open until 7pm.
This year’s event will be significantly expanded compared to previous years, with a whole new area that will feature a range of new festive experiences. All the best elements from previous years will remain, such as the cosy and atmospheric Grotto, the Castle walk-through and our spectacular Christmas illuminations.
