Gather your little monsters for a ghoulishly good day out at Wrest Park this half term. Follow the trail to solve creepy clues and gather round to listen to spooky stories. There’s a frighteningly fun fancy dress competition every day – just come in your scariest outfits to be in with a chance of winning.

Audley End Miniature Railway – Halloween Special – Tickets on sale now – Essex

Your fang-tastic experience will begin at the station where our station masters will board you upon our Halloween express. Chugging deep into the Estate Woodland you will arrive at the witches’ house and be greeted by the coven of witches together with their cheeky monster friends. The wicked witches and playful monsters will entertain you, cackling and chanting spells around their cauldrons. But make sure you behave yourselves as they perform their witchy dance, or they might cast a spell on you. Once you return from your train journey the entertainment continues as you venture back into the woods to meet Belinda the Fortune Telling Witch….and more.

Colchester Zoo – Shriek Week – Tickets on sale now – Essex

Join in with our fang-tastic themed activities taking place. Halloween trail – Collect your trail on arrival (one per family group) and look out for the four boards to complete each activity during your visit. Hand in your completed trail to collect a small prize! Join the good witches and wizards in the Craft Coven to create your own potions, spells and other witchy crafts. Watch our glow in the dark show with music and dancing for all to enjoy! Plus more.

Join us for a jam-packed day of family fun at the historic Hatfield House, Hertfordshire, this Halloween. You’ll follow a fun-filled trail where surprise awaits around every corner. Prepare to bump into a collection of creepy characters along the way, who’ll invite you to get involved as they tell scary stories, sing spooky songs and even teach you how to move to your favourite Halloween grooves in our Halloween Disco. Once you’re back, the fun continues with our pimp-a-pumpkin workshop where you can get crafty, get creative and get carving!

Holkham Hall – A Grim Halloween – To Be Confirmed – Norfolk

Once upon a time there lived two brothers, who collected sinister stories and terrifying fairy tales that only the bravest of children dare read; they were The Brothers Grimm. Spend a Grimm inspired Halloween at Holkham, where deep in the enchanted walled garden you’ll find live mini-performances of the age-old tale of Hansel and Gretel, as well as spooky storytelling, pumpkin carving, face painting, witch-crafts and tantalising skele-trails for the whole family to enjoy. For the bravest children, there is an opportunity to get up close and creepy with the crawlies, plus a hair-raising chance to conquer the tree top terrors under the cover of darkness on the ropes course.

Mountfitchet Castle – Halloween event – Dates Confirmed – Essex

Huge spiders have taken over the historic grounds and have made a terrifying labyrinth of webs and nests inside one of the buildings! We need your help to find them because our staff are too scared! Can you follow the trail and find all the stamps? To complete the trail you must find and face the grandad of all spiders; the terrible leaping Giant Tarantula! Are you brave enough? A gift for every completed trail handed in to our staff awaits all young spider arachnologists (spider experts)

Nene Valley Railway – Thomas Trick or Treat Train – To Be Confirmed – Cambridgeshire

Info from a previous event – Thomas will be hauling his own train down to Yarwell and back to Wansford, on which you will get to meet Mr G. Host as you pass through the tunnel (he’s the Wansford friendly Ghost of course), the lights on the train will be switched off for a short period of time at this point in the journey.

From Wansford Thomas will uncouple and The Polish Tank Loco will couple up and haul the train to Peterborough and back. On your return to Wansford Station each child will be able to visit the different Trick or Treat Stations we have set up around the platform to collect their candy treats.

Dare you brave the Spooky Mill Walk, keep your eyes peeled for some colourful characters along the way (suitable for children of all ages). The popular Lord of the Rings themed family challenge is back for October half term, bigger than ever, celebrating 20 years since ‘The Fellowship of the Ring’ hit the big screen! As well as the Ring Quest trail, there are the huge spiders of Mirkwood and a dragon guarding its treasure to see. Complete the Ring Quest and find the rings and runes to save Middle Earth.

Wizard Wolfgang has been busy trying to use magic to bring animals back from extinction. Unfortunately he jumbled up his spells and managed to turn himself into a pumpkin instead!

He needs your help to follow his tricky trail, collecting letters along the way to discover the magic word to reverse his spell. Hunt for clues, find fascinating animal facts and test your spell-casting skills. The first of the two brand-new trails is ideal for younger visitors aged 4-7, while there’s a longer and trickier challenge for older wizards-in-training (recommended for 7-12yrs).
