Here it is our list of the best summer events across the West Midlands to keep you busy all summer. This list includes events in Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, West Midlands and Worcestershire. All events are family-friendly.

I am unsure of the following attractions policies on cancellations of events, please consider this before booking and check with them in advance. It may also be an idea to check with the attraction that everything is as advertised the day before you visit.

Amerton Railway – Steam Gala – Staffordshire

When? 17th and 18th July

A Bit About – “Loads to see with our incredibly popular steam-hauled gala with an intensive freight and passenger service. Many visiting locos, exact details to be confirmed soon. Industrial railway demonstrations with our small industrial diesel locomotives to emphasise the flexibility of industrial railways. Shed tours and workshop tours to demonstrate our preservation work and allow you to see our other engines.”

Biddulph Grange Garden – Summer Activities – Staffordshire

A Bit About – “From Sat 10 July, discover the different games and sports equipment around the garden and challenge your family to a game or match. Pick up a ‘get, set, go’ card and collect stickers for taking part in our active challenges. Activities do not need to be booked but we advise booking your visit at busier times such as weekends and school holidays.”

Blists Hill Victorian Town – Steampunk Festival – Shropshire

A Bit About – “The Ministry of Steampunk are taking over in the most spectacular way. So, grab your goggles and dress to impress in your Steampunk finery as you enjoy the charms of the UK’s only complete Victorian Town with a science fiction twist.  Browse the wares of the very best Steampunk makers and traders and watch the Martian Expeditionary Force presentations.  There will be lots of performances and musical entertainment around the Town throughout the weekend, all presented in a safe and secure environment.”

Harvington Hall – Fire, sword and surgery – Worcestershire

When? 29th and 30th August

A Bit About – Our 17th century surgeon will tell you about how he treats the wounded of the English Civil War, anything from musket ball wounds to sword lacerations. Get a chance to see the instruments used and terrible methods to treat his patients.
