We like to stay at caravan parks with evening entertainment as we prefer to go out in the evening rather than sit in our caravan. However, Deer’s Glade Caravan and Camping Park in Norfolk was a step outside of the norm for us. I was a big fan of the place, my husband not so much. To me, the site was truly lovely and picturesque compared to some of the sites we’d literally been wedged into.
When it comes to choosing a caravan park I often forget to pay attention to pitch size as I get enticed by everything else. We end up with plenty to do but with a pitch that we’re not particularly keen to spend time at. At Deer’s Glade, we really enjoyed spending some time by our caravan and luckily the weather was warm enough to spend time outside playing in the evening.

It is a 5* campsite and has won my favourite and most important award when it comes to caravan parks. Which is a Gold David Bellamy conservation award. Generally, if a site has this I know I’m going to love it. They have pitches for tourers and tents, including a large camping field a short distance away from the main park.
You can also rent a pod, bell tent or shepherd’s hut from them. They are even open all year round which is getting to be quite rare for a caravan park. We paid just under £70 for our pitch for three nights. I will talk more about our pitch in my review below.
Review of Deer’s Glade Caravan Park – Pitch, site and facilities
Our Pitch at Deer’s Glade
We had a deluxe grass pitch with a 16 amp electric hook-up and TV point. Hardstanding pitches are also available. It was quite honestly the best pitch and size of pitch yet. There was plenty of room around our 7.9-metre caravan plus we had a hedge on three sides which was much appreciated. The pitch was also one of the most level pitches we’ve ever been on.
We were a short walk to the shower and toilet block, which had underfloor heating. It was clean and we had no issues with the facilities. The water point was also one of the easiest to collect water from. I won’t talk about the toilet disposal, I’m still traumatised from a previous customer!
The site and facilities at Deer’s Glade Norfolk
The site itself is set in some of Norfolk’s most gorgeous scenery. As the name suggests you are out in the countryside and there is access into the woods from the caravan site.
The walk from the woods up to the Muntjac meadow is very pleasant and well worth the effort. This campsite is only open in August. We were told that it is easy to spot Muntjac up here. We were a bit disappointed as all we could see were farmers’ fields where I couldn’t imagine any deer hanging out at. Still, it was a lovely walk.
At the caravan park, there is an outdoor adventure playground for the children. Our son spent quite a lot of his time there.
There’s a lovely fishing lake on site which my husband did attempt to catch a fish at. He failed, however, it was a lovely spot.
You could also buy some food from the on-site shop and feed their resident sheep. I lost count of the number of times that we did this. I believe the sheep have now been replaced with some goats.
To be honest, caravanning isn’t all about the facilities and the entertainment. After so many stays at busy on-the-go sites, it was nice to just chill and relax. This is the kind of site that we really should visit more often. You really feel like you are camping/caravanning.
One of the evenings they had a hog roast under their canopy (Saturday). The food was fabulous and I’d highly recommend buying something if they have one while you are there. The next morning they also had a fried breakfast in a bap (Sunday) which was also really good.
The local area around Deer’s Glade Norfolk
There is plenty to do in the local area. There’s BeWILDerwood (treetop adventure on a vast scale) please see here for our review of BeWILDerwood. National Trust properties, the Norfolk Broads, Blakeney point seal trips, North Norfolk Railway, ROARR! and more are not too far away.
We chose to visit Cromer during our stay and we spent a pleasant few hours there. We chose to park high up and walk down to the town. This gave us a lovely view of the pier. There are a few amusement arcades and rides, pubs and of course fishing for crabs off the pier. Here’s a few photos from our day out in Cromer.
