There are four Haven Holiday Parks on the Yorkshire Coast but which are the best ones for families? We have stayed at all four of them and they are each different in design, facilities and location. In this post we take a look at each Yorkshire Haven park and what is good about them. There are three Haven parks located near Filey in North Yorkshire and one in Flamborough, East Yorkshire.

There is plenty to do nearby including some fabulous coastline, days out in the North Yorkshire Moors and York is just over an hour’s drive away. Not only is there Filey nearby waiting for you to discover but there are also the popular tourist towns of Scarborough and Bridlington. All parks offer on-site entertainment day and night. Let’s start with a look at our favourite Haven holiday park in Yorkshire, Primrose Valley.

Primrose Valley – Filey – North Yorkshire

Primrose Valley Haven indoor pool

Address: Primrose Ave, Primrose Valley, Filey YO14 9RF
AboutPrimrose Valley is one of Haven’s biggest holiday parks and we have enjoyed many a happy holiday there. It is a great site for all ages and there is an abundance of things to do. There is a large indoor pool with a multi-lane waterslide plus splash features. Over the other side of the park at Lakeside there is an indoor and outdoor pool which has a more relaxed atmosphere.

Adrenalin junkies can get their fix here as there is The Jump, an aerial adventure course and lake kayaking. Little ones have their own mini adventure course or you can hire a pedalo on the lake. Other fun things to do include crazy golf, fairground rides, pottery painting, footgolf, archery and so much more. There is a lovely Lakehouse restaurant plus a range of other places where you can purchase food and drinks. This park has beach access down a steep slope. Once down there is a beautiful golden sandy beach to explore.

On-site accommodation – There is a range of caravans at Primrose Valley

Thornwick Bay – Flamborough – East Yorkshire

Thornwick Bay Haven watersports on the lake

Address: N Marine Rd, Flamborough, Bridlington YO15 1AU
About – Located on the outskirts of the pretty little village of Flamborough is Haven’s Thornwick Bay holiday park. A recent investment to the park is its boathouse and jetty. During your stay, you can try out a range of watersports such as paddleboarding, kayaking, pedalos and boat hire. Another fun new facility is their NERF training camp. There is also an indoor swimming pool with water features.

Also on-site your kids can learn fire lighting techniques or archery. They even have some junior segways and segways for older kids and adults. For a more relaxed activity, you can all have a go at pottery painting or hire a bike and explore the park. Thornwick Bay has a number of restaurants and takeaways. A short walk away you have two beaches to choose from. There is Thornwick Bay which is great for rockpooling or North Landing with a small sheltered sandy beach and boat trips in the summer months. Both have a steep walk down and back up again.

Reighton Sands – Filey – North Yorkshire

Reighton Sands Haven

Address: Reighton Gap, Filey YO14 9SH
About – We like to stay at Haven’s Reighton Sands as much as Thornwick Bay so it is certainly close in preference. It is also near the sea and this site has a land train that takes you down to the beach. The tide can come in quick here though so check the tide times before you head down. We love the outdoor lazy river at this park which is open in warmer weather. There is also an indoor pool although it doesn’t have any additional features.

At Reighton Sands there is even a nine-hole golf course with some amazing sea views. Kids can make their very own sand bottles or make fun slime creations. They even have the opportunity to learn water safety training with the RNLI. Other activities include den building, archery, footgolf and fire lighting techniques. There is the Hawkwood restaurant plus a beach cafe, Cook’s Fish and Chips and ice cream.

On-site accommodation – There is a range of caravans and lodges at Reighton Sands.

Blue Dolphin – Filey – North Yorkshire

Blue Dolphin Outdoor Pool

Address: 11 Dolphin Way, Gristhorpe, Filey YO14 9PU
About – We have only stayed at Blue Dolphin with our touring caravan in bad weather but we did get to experience some of their facilities. It has to be said that this feels like the smallest of Yorkshire Haven parks and perhaps has the less things to do. On-site there is an indoor pool with a multi-lane water slide and also a heated outdoor pool. New to the park is their fun NERF training camp.

Also on-site there is Batfast, inflatable bounce and play, pottery painting and an indoor climbing wall. Kids can get back to nature by hunting for bugs sessions and they can learn fire lighting techniques. Plus there is crazy golf, fishing, junior segways and karts you can hire for exploring the park. Places for food and drinks include the Brigghouse restaurant, Papa John’s, Cook’s Fish and Chips, Burger King and more. As with all the beaches at Haven holiday parks, this one is again a steep walk down (and back up again). The beach is a bit further away from this park so doesn’t have direct access.

On-site accommodation – There is a range of caravans and Lodges at Blue Dolphin.
