LEGO’s first-ever attraction opened at Billund in Denmark. Billund is the home of LEGO where it was first invented. LEGOLAND Billund Resort is home to a large theme park with a great range of rides which are suitable for toddlers through to young teenagers.
The LEGOLAND Billund Resort has two hotels and a holiday village. After closely looking at the reviews on Tripadvisor I chose for us to stay at the LEGOLAND Castle Hotel in Billund. It offers free parking and it is a really short walk away from LEGOLAND Billund’s main entrance plus a stay there includes breakfast and free Wi-Fi.

The LEGOLAND Castle Hotel in Billund is easy to find. We visited as part of a 1 week holiday to Denmark and we drove there from Copenhagen. We booked through LEGOLAND’s Official Website which in my opinion is the best way to book a stay here. You can fly from the UK to some airports, such as Billund Airport. This would be a great idea for saving money as the hotel is right next to the airport, you can walk easily from there to the hotel.
The LEGOLAND Castle Hotel is great for families and you can’t fail to be captivated by how it looks. Built recently the hotel is in great condition and our room was exceptionally clean. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.
The hotel has 142 rooms and there are two buildings of rooms. It is worth knowing that there is the main building with half of the rooms and this is where breakfast and dinner are served. The other rooms are across the courtyard so if it’s bad weather you will want to take your coat with you.
There are three types of rooms to choose from; The Princess’ room, The Wizard’s room and the Dragon Knight’s room.
All around you is LEGO. Even the reception hall is full of LEGO including areas where children can sit together and create their own LEGO masterpieces.
They really have gone to town with the theming. Even the hotel corridors are themed with music playing and lights that look like real torches.
There is a HUGE buffet-style restaurant. Breakfast was included and there were plenty of hot and cold food and drink options. We also booked a buffet dinner here which was excellent with plenty of choice. We paid a set price that included unlimited drinks – even wine and beer were included in the price!
Outside there is a fun-themed play area with a play tower and plenty of obstacles with something to suit all children.
We stayed in the Dragon Knight’s room which is highly-themed and bright and colourful. There were so many nice touches from a LEGO dragon sat guarding the main bed to things for kids to find on the walls and other knightly wonders.
As soon as you enter the room there is a bunk bed area off to your right. This sleeps up to four children. There is a safe here and there was a LEGO box with a panel for kids to stick their creations onto. The kids even have their own TV.
We had a huge shower room which was fully accessible. There was even a LEGO sword on the wall. The showroom had shower gel, a hairdryer and tissues plus plenty of towels.
Opposite the bathroom, there was a large storage area with tea and coffee-making facilities, a fridge, glasses, ironing board and a wardrobe.
The large bed for the adults had a wonderful picture above it that had a light inside it. Opposite the bed, there was a TV on the wall and a table area with a chair. It was incredibly spacious and it felt such a treat to be staying there. Although we were really close to the airport you could barely hear the planes and they didn’t fly overnight.
Outside there are some excellent LEGO statues which we had great fun taking photos next to.
As you walk around outside the hotel you trigger all sorts of different noises, it’s great fun!
