The Scottish Highlands are one of the world’s most spectacular places to enjoy a holiday. They are the perfect destination for a luxury family lodge holiday. What could be better after an exciting day exploring than arriving back at your luxury lodge to chill out and recap all the day’s adventures?
The Hollie’s Retreat offers three luxury self-catering lodges in the Cairngorms National Park near Aviemore. Located in North East Scotland the park covers the picturesque Cairngorms range of mountains and the surrounding hills.

The luxury lodges are available to book all year round and your four-legged furry friend doesn’t have to be left at home as dogs are more than welcome. The spacious lodges are surrounded by vibrant green pastureland with two of the lodges being big enough to accommodate most families.
Each lodge features a stylish interior design with high-end appeal in every room. Outdoors there is a relaxing space with a private garden and extensive views. The two larger lodges each have a hot tub.
All of their lodges are designed with impeccable taste. They are comfortably furnished, fully equipped and surrounded by spectacular views.
Make sure you take the kids to meet Hamish and Dougal their Highland cows that live in the grounds of their site. The brothers were welcomed as calves in 2018 and enjoy an occasional gluten-free oatcake.
The Cairngorm Cottage sleeps up to 6 guests and has been recently refurbished. There is a large fully-fitted kitchen with everything you need to cook meals for your family. You step down into the dining room which has a fabulous antler chandelier, a steel stag’s head and wallpaper that reflects the wildness of a Highland Woodland.
In the luxurious lounge, there is a comfortable corner sofa and a wonderful log-burning stove (logs are provided). The lodge has three bedrooms with Hypnos mattresses, one en-suite in the master bedroom and a family bathroom to share. Outside you will find garden furniture. a BBQ and a hot tub.
The Glenmore Lodge sleeps up to 4 guests and it is a contemporary-styled lodge with luxurious furnishings and underfloor heating throughout. There is a stylish fully fitted kitchen and the lounge-dining area is complete with a log-burning stove.
There are two bedrooms, each with an en-suite. Plus there is an additional family bathroom. Outside there is a garden area with a hot tub jacuzzi spa, BBQ and garden furniture.
Plus there is a further lodge The Speyside Suite which sleeps up to 2 guests. You can book extras for your stay including high chairs, an infant travel cot and even a bottle of bubbly to be waiting for you when you arrive.
Things to do in the Scottish Highlands
Their location within the park means you can enjoy the rugged landscape and nearby outdoor adventures. You could enjoy a walk while taking in some spectacular views, go skiing in the winter season, or go fishing or swimming.
The Cairngorms National Park is the largest in the UK with thriving wildlife and nearby towns you can explore. The nearby Cairngorm Mountain is a ski and snowboard station with a funicular railway, lifts, floodlit slopes and tubing on a dry slope.
You can meet the Cairngorm Reindeer Herd at the local centre of the same name. Here you can feed and stroke the UK’s only wild reindeer herd. In the Rothiemurchus Estate there are outdoor activities on offer such as cycling, a high-ropes course, quad treks, deer safari, pony trekking and more.
Also nearby is the Strathspey railway which is a 10-mile-long heritage railway from Aviemore to Broomhill via Boat of Garten and the popular family-friendly attraction the Highland Wildlife Park. This is a 260-acre safari park and zoo with over 300 animals. oo and is home to a variety of animals found in present-day Scotland. A visit starts with a drive around the main reserve in your car and you then move on to a walk-around area.
