We have fallen in love with a car. After one week of road testing the Peugeot 3008 SUV I can safely say we are very impressed. It has taken us to some amazing places. We’ve had two mini-breaks with plenty of days out. We were sad to see it go.
Just in case you didn’t know an SUV is a Sport Utility Vehicle and this car even has an optional sport mode. Prices new start from £25,080. It has a load of snazzy functions to help make driving easier and safer. I will cover some of them below. Not all the cars functions were tested by us but it didn’t matter. I loved driving it and it was so smooth to drive.
*Disclaimer: This is an ad. We were loaned the car for 1 week and our travel expenses were covered during this time. All opinions and photos are my own and must not be duplicated.
“Winner of over 65 International awards, including Carbuyer’s Best Medium SUV 2019 and AutoTrader’s 2019 ‘New Car Of The Year’ the sleek Peugeot 3008 SUV combines technology with elegance to display strength and character.”
Looks – What were our first impressions of the 3008 SUV
Peugeot has two SUV’s the 3008 and the 5008. The 3008 is the smaller of the two models but it was anything but small. I’m not a fan of driving big cars and at no point did this car feel too big while I was driving it. But inside it is more than big enough, in fact, the boot is one of the biggest we’ve ever seen in a car that isn’t a 4×4.
The 3008 is very attractive in design and I loved the modern chrome touches on the outside of the car. The interior was also really special with a highly designed control panel, a large screen for the sat-nav, radio etc. Even the automatic gearbox was completely different from anything I’d seen before.
It took a little bit of getting used to but after a week of driving the 3008, I found it odd going back to my own car which also has an automatic gearbox. The front seats have quite a sporty look to them and were indeed very comfy. I suffer a lot from backache when I drive and I didn’t suffer once driving this car.
Boot Space in the Peugeot 3008 SUV
The back seat is a folding bench seat that has a 2/3 – 1/3 ‘Magic Flat’ capability to optimise loading with a flat floor so you can create an interior space to suit you. This extends the already impressive boot space from 591 litres to the full 1670 litres of capacity available (including the spare wheel well).
We were incredibly impressed with the boot size. In the boot (without making it any bigger) we easily fit all our bags in for our glamping / self-catering holiday. There was still a vast amount of room to put more in.
Features we Love
As mentioned above there are all sorts of features on the Peugeot 3008 SUV to help make driving easier and safer. The wing mirrors have small lights that light up when a car is too near to you. This helps you double-check the blind spot when driving on a motorway or dual carriageway.
Another nifty addition to this kind of driving is a sensor that tells you if a car is too close to you by flashing a warning on the dashboard. This can also activate a braking system designed to avoid a collision or limit its severity by reducing the vehicle’s speed. The system is triggered if the driver does not react quickly enough, by activating the vehicle’s brakes.
My favourite feature was the reverse camera. It accurately showed what I couldn’t see for myself at the back of the car. There’s a guide to show you where your car is and where it’s heading. Plus sensors that beep if you get too close to things. I used the guide to reverse park into a space and I did it to perfection.
I normally avoid sat navs in cars as traditionally they haven’t been very good. Recently I have preferred to use Google Maps on my phone. A few times we were in places where my phone had no signal and we had to use the sat nav in the car.
I have to say that we were very impressed. It was easy to find nearby places of interest such as restaurants and supermarkets. It also didn’t get us lost in finding normally hard-to-find places.
Another favourite feature of ours was the acclimatisation in the car. It could be controlled completely independently on each side of the car. My husband likes cold air blowing at him whereas I prefer little air and warmer temperatures.
We were able to sit in our own little air bubble so to speak. The seats even heat up to different levels when the temperature gets colder.
One feature we noted in the Peugeot 3008 is the ISOFIX points on the front passenger seat. I have never been in a car with ISOFIX points in the front of a car. The back seats have two sets of ISOFIX points. The middle seat has a seat belt but not an ISOFIX.
Space in the back for adults and Car Seats in the Peugeot 3008
There was plenty of room in the back even with our son’s car seat. My husband sat in the back for one of our trips and he was very impressed with the legroom. As well as there being plenty of room in the front there is also plenty of room in the back.
Overall Impressions of the Peugeot 3008 SUV
When the Peugeot 3008 was delivered to our house it had a full tank of petrol. We worked out that we did 8 hours of driving and we handed the car back with 1/4 of a tank still left in it. We didn’t fill it up or put any petrol in during the time we had it. Its MPG is 59-74 and I think we were getting pretty close to 70mpg out of the Peugeot 3008 SUV. This for an automatic is excellent and certainly economical.
The drive was smooth, easy and a lot safer than the cars we drive. I found it very easy to drive at 60mph on country roads and the seats were super comfy. I’m not kidding when I said we were sad to see it go. We were very impressed with our Peugeot 3008 SUV for the week.
