When the offer came in to review the new Epic range of Pizzas at Pizza Hut I was never going to pass that by. Pizza Hut is somewhere that I’ve been eating at since I was young. I’ve carried on the family lunch tradition and I take my son a few times a year.
In fact this year we’ve been more than normal as it’s been a good stop-off for us on long car journeys. I’ve always loved their pizzas and I love the new modern look of their restaurants. We had a three-generation lunch and went epic!. Anyway enough about me and more about pizzas.
The New Epic Range at Pizza Hut
So what’s so Epic about Pizza Hut’s new Epic Range? Wellm I was wondering that myself and I can tell you now that both my Mum and myself loved our pizzas. I normally really like my Pizza Hut pizza but I really loved this one. It was so tasty, packed with ingredients and the flavour of the cheeses was far superior to any Pizza Hut pizza I’ve had before.
Pizza Hut has taken four of their most popular pizzas and for a £2.00 Epic upgrade, you will have premium toppings added to your pizza and a triple cheese blend of Monterey Jack, Red Leicester and Mozzarella. Or if you pay using the new QKR! with Masterpass App you can go Epic for free!
The Epic range is available at selected Pizza Hut restaurants and is subject to availability.
Our Epic Pizzas
I opted for the Epic Meat Feast which included the triple cheese blend, shaved steak, paprika-pulled chicken, pepperoni and ham. It was so tasty!. You can choose from the regular choice of bases which are stuffed crust (a garlicky crust stuffed with cheese), all-American thin, gluten-free, pan, cheesy bites and lighter flatbreads. I opted for the garlicky crust stuffed with cheese which is an extra £2.00 with a regular 9″ pizza.
The meats on my pizza were exceptionally good. Mostly because they tasted more ‘natural’ than some toppings on regular pizzas can do (not talking about Pizza Hut there!). The cheese also went really well and I could tell the difference in taste. It’s been a long time since I’ve had a stuffed crust and I was also impressed. I could taste both the cheese and the garlic in the crust.
My Mum opted for the Epic Veggie which included a triple cheese blend, flame-roasted peppers & onions, garlic mushrooms, cherry tomatoes and spinach. She isn’t one for lots of toppings on her pizza and knows what she prefers and likes at Pizza Hut.
So she was a little dubious about going Epic but she loved her pizza and said a few times during and after about how tasty and nice it was. She opted for the All-American thin base.
Starters at Pizza Hut
Before we embarked on our Epic pizzas we also took advantage of the salad bar. This is included with all adult and kids menus. Items on the salad bar include potato salad, coleslaw, lettuce, tomatoes, sweetcorn, sauces, crispy onions and more.
We also both chose a starter. Mum had the Cheesy bite bites with a garlic and herb dip. They went down well and she said that she’d have them again. I opted for the Jalapeno poppers which were filled with a creamy cheese filling.
These were excellent, they were just the right heat and the cream cheese went really well. Often when I’ve had these elsewhere they’ve been wet and flavorless. The poppers from Pizza Hut were the opposite. I’d certainly choose them again.
Kids Menu at Pizza Hut
When available kids can opt to eat from the buffet. As well as the buffet Pizza Hut offers a Little Heroes menu and a Bigger Heroes menu. My son is 5 and had the Little Heroes menu.
This included a drink (from the drinks station), salad, main and dessert. Choices for the main dishes on this menu were pizzas with a topping, spaghetti bolognese, cheesy pasta and chicken with fries.
On both of the kid’s menus they can choose from an ice lolly for dessert or a trip to the ice cream station. There are sauces and plenty of sprinkles for your kids to sprinkle on their ice cream to their heart’s content.
We all left happy and full. I wouldn’t hesitate to opt for an Epic Pizza.
