Ripleys Believe it or Not has around 29 museums worldwide where you can marvel at hundreds of unusual artefacts. My son has been wanting to visit one for ages. Luckily for him, Ripleys Believe it or Not is included in the Copenhagen Card that we had bought for our stay in Denmark. We managed to fit so much into our stay there using our Copenhagen Card and worked out that it saved us over £150 on entrance fees.
Ripleys Believe it or Not in Copenhagen is located on the main square near the main town hall and Tivoli Gardens. It was around a 15-minute walk from our hotel Marriott Copenhagen. As mentioned above our visit was included with our Copenhagen Card but you can book tickets separately. More information on prices is at the bottom of this post.
Ripleys in Copenhagen has now been open for 30 years. It also has a Hans Christian Andersen walk-through exhibition. He was one of the world’s most famous and best children’s story writers with one of his most famous books being The Little Mermaid. He spent most of his life in Copenhagen.
This is a great attraction for all ages. We were visiting with three generations and we all found the exhibitions to be fascinating. In fact, I’d go as far as to say it’s one of the best museums we’ve ever been to. There was so much to see and there were many interactive elements to enjoy as well. Plus of course many opportunities for photos and selfies.
It is not like any regular museum and has to be seen to be believed. Our visit lasted just over an hour. You have to take your time to walk around and absorb everything you are seeing.
The museum has 12 galleries and there are more than 500 exhibits across two floors. In Ripley’s Attic, you can explore an extensive collection of oddities. Another gallery has items of torture and there are many weird and wonderful items. We especially loved the vortex tunnel.
There is also a section of displays relating to Guinness World Records such as the world’s tallest man and what was at the time the World’s fattest man.
There is a genuine shrunken head, a 2 headed calf and so much more.
It was great fun creating different balancing illusions in their upside-down room.
After exploring the galleries we could then use our token to visit the Hans Christian Andersen exhibition. If you aren’t visiting with a Copenhagen Card this exhibition has an additional charge. You will step into an enchanting world and hear different stories which will come alive with light, sound and scent.
You will learn more about life in Denmark during the time of Hans Christian Andersen and his story from humble beginnings to becoming a world-renowned author. They also bring many of his stories such as The Little Mermaid, Thumbelina and the Emeror’s New Clothes to life.
Don’t miss your chance to pose for selfies with the man himself.
