For a great family-friendly option why not check out the Sol Dunas Resort located in Sal, Cape Verde? Sal is part of a group of 10 islands in Cape Verde off the west coast of Africa. This is an up-and-coming destination that is currently relatively unknown. Discovered originally by the Portuguese the islands also have African and Brazilian influences. This is evident in the island’s music, fashion and food.

The Sol Dunas is part of a big complex with another hotel within the grounds. It is just a 25-minute drive from Esparagos, the island’s capital. Plus just 5 minutes from Santa Maria, with its wide long beaches and pastel coloured buildings. You are also just a 20-minute drive from Sal Airport.
On-site you have three pools to choose from with plenty of space for lounging and topping up your tan. Children have their own pool plus a super fun pirate-themed splash zone. Adults and older children can zoom down a range of slides including a multi-lane racer.

Your Board Basis
The hotel’s board is all-inclusive. This includes breakfast, lunch and dinner plus snacks at set times. Selected local-brand alcohol, soft drinks, tea and coffee are also available. The buffet restaurant has a terrace that overlooks the pool. There is also a grille snack restaurant, an Italian and 5 bars.

Other facilities include table tennis, basketball, pool aerobics and volleyball. There is a big children’s playground, game consoles and a mini cinema. The Sol Dunas shares spa and gym facilities with the Melias Dunas Resort. You can choose from a wide range of pampering treatments. For guests wanting to visit the city of Santa Maria and the nearby beach, the hotel runs its own free shuttle bus service.
Entertainment
For children, there is a kid’s club which is for those aged 5-12. The hotel staff lay on lots of activities including mini-discos, mini aqua gym, snorkelling and team games. Babies and toddlers aged 6 months to 4 years also have a club with a wide range of activities. Parental supervision is required at the mini-club. Even teens have their own club! Those aged 13-17 can take part in a variety of activities including table tennis, darts, films in the mini cinema and so much more. In the evenings there is a wide range of entertainment in the amphitheatre.
