Sealife adventures run whale search and wildlife watching boat trips from their pontoon near Oban on the west coast of Scotland. They run 3, 4 and 5-hour trips all of which visit the Corryvreckan whirlpool. All ages are welcome on their trips. You can also hire their boat out privately.
The area is exceptional for porpoises, minke whales, dolphins, basking sharks, otters and seals. Plus seabirds including sea eagles, puffins and more. The area is protected which means they have a healthy fish population. They schedule their trips at different times each day according to the tides.
Their 3 and 4-hour Corryvreckan wildlife cruises are their most popular trips. They run when the whirlpool is less active as it is generally better for spotting wildlife. They almost always see porpoises, eagles, wild oats, deer and seabirds. They regularly see dolphins and otters.
They also run 4 and 5-hour whale searches and Corryvreckan cruises. Plus 3 and 4-hour whirlpool specials. They run these in the spring when the whirlpool is most dramatic. The whirlpool depends on the tides and the sea state. Every two weeks the whirlpool is at its most active and these trips are times to put you at the whirlpool during its strongest run. This can make spotting wildlife more difficult.
