At Trentham Monkey Forest near Stoke-on-Trent, you can get up close to some 140 Barbary Macaque monkeys. They roam free, in 60 acres of beautiful and ancient Staffordshire woodland making it a really unique place to visit in the UK.

What is there to do at Trentham Monkey Forest?

There is a shaded pathway of just under a mile around the monkeys. You will hopefully be able to see them feeding, playing, grooming and hanging out on or near the paths. There are no barriers but you aren’t allowed to touch or feed them. Guides are on hand to keep you and the monkeys safe and to tell you more about the monkeys. You may even be lucky enough to see some babies.

Hourly feeding talks take place every hour and are a must-watch. The centre is doing a lot for the conservation of the Barbary macaque monkeys. The site features two playgrounds for children. There is also a video room and information centre. It’s not cheap but you can upgrade to help feed the monkeys their breakfast.
