Things to do at The Seal Sanctuary Wildlife Centre review

The Mablethorpe Seal Sanctuary & Wildlife Centre has rescued hundreds of injured and orphaned seals since it first opened in 1974. The seals are looked after in a specially designed hospital and are looked after until they can be released back into the wild. For those that can’t be released back into the wild they are kept at the sanctuary or moved to other animal attractions.

The sanctuary can be found north of the main centre of Mablethorpe close to a Haven caravan park. There is on-site parking but we love taking the sand train from the beach up to the sanctuary. There is also a land train which stops at the sanctuary.

It is a small attraction which we usually explore in just over an hour. They have around two acres with animals, including primates, reptiles, birds of prey, meerkats, seabirds and more. There are caves to walk through and underwater windows so that you can see the animals, swimming .

The sanctuary offers zookeeper experiences where you can spend the day working around the animals, and learning about how they are cared for. They also have set feeding times which the general public can watch plus a small play area with a wooden climbing frame and a fossil sandpit. You may even spot a few dinosaurs lurking around the place.
