The National Videogame Museum

The National Videogame Museum

The National Videogame Museum is located in the city centre of Sheffield, South Yorkshire. It is a unique museum where anyone can play, explore and create video games.

What can you do at The National Videogame Museum?

You can see how the games are made, who makes them and even why they are made. Not only can you play on their games but you can have a go at making one of your own. They hold workshops where you can learn just that. It is one of the UK’s fastest-growing creative industries.

The lab is where you can try out game development and get an insight into how consoles are developed. In Platform: 14 there are 14 versions of 1 game. The Donkey Kong exhibit explores what is lost and gained from converting and remaking a game for a new platform. You can try out the different versions of this game.

In the Arcade, you can try a selection of their arcade machines. There is a great range to try out. You don’t need coins as the machines are included in your entrance price.
