Silver Mountain Experience
The Silver Mountain Experience is a family-friendly day out near Aberystwyth in Mid-Wales. It is a site filled with myth, history and legend based at the beautifully preserved Llywernog silver-lead ore mine.
Things to do at Silver Mountain Experience
Tickets include access to their mining museum surface attractions and a choice of guided tours. Tours include a Miner’s Life, A Dragon’s Tale and the fearsome Black Chasm. The Dragon’s Tale tour, for example, takes you on an expedition to find a shy and secretive dragon by the name of Grotty.
You will follow the clues, crack the codes and see if you can find this friendly creature. This is perfect for younger explorers under the age of 8. The other tours are for older children. In the mining museum, you can discover an array of mining artefacts from a bygone era of mining in Wales. The Black Chasm tour is not recommended for children under the age of 10.
In the Woo Hoo Wood, youngsters will enjoy a spot of den building. You can play eerie tunes on the Giant’s pan pipes or explore the Tangle-Foot Maze. Plus there is a Wobbly log challenge and more. There is a huge water play area where all the family can control the flow of water. You can also have a go at panning for gems (a small extra charge) or you can dig for fossils. Also on-site is the Ultimate Xscape escape room. You have 60 minutes to work your way through clues and crack the code to escape. This is available at an additional charge to the Silver Mountain Experience.
