Things to do at Fort Amherst
The fort is set within 20 acres of green space all linked to the Great Lines Heritage Park. You can enjoy a maze of underground defensive tunnels and once outside there are some spectacular views to take in. The tunnels were equipped with a well, toilets, gun positions, musket galleries and defendable gateways much of which you can see today.
There are daily tunnel tours at the fort and even ghost tours (for 8 years and over), the tours have a small charge. There are often displays during the day. At the base of the fort, you will find a wooden adventure assault course for kids.
