Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway
The Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway runs a steam service between Haverthwaite and Lakeside station in Cumbria. If you want to extend your day you could continue your journey by booking on a steamer and cruising up Windermere to Bowness or Ambleside. Or you could visit a family-friendly attraction such as the Lakes Aquarium, Lakeland Motor Museum or the World of Beatrix Potter. They sell combined tickets on their website.
Haverthwaite railway station has lots of facilities including a woodland walk, a covered picnic area, a woodland play area, a gift shop, a tea room and station buildings. The woodland playground has a platform view with a tunnel slide, climbing frames, bucket swing, zip wire and more. In their large engine shed, you can see their collection of steam and diesel locomotives.
