Wendover Woods

Wendover Woods

Wendover Woods has just finished a huge transformation project. The car park has been completely extended and there is a new cafe and toilet facilities. Most importantly there is now an amazing play trail! This has got various stops along the way including a woodland mud kitchen, ant’s nest climbing frame, wooden fort and badgers sett. It’s so good and worth a trip all by itself.

What is there to do at Wendover Woods?

They have forest trails (currently Shaun the Sheep), Gruffalo orienteering, and a small playground. There is also a new toddler play area next to the cafe. They’ve even got a giant Gruffalo carving. Further away from the visitor centre, there are fitness trails, miles of woodland walks and even an ancient fort.

If bikes are more your thing then there are lots of bike trails and a dedicated bike circuit around the corner. You can have picnics or BBQs there (if you get there early enough) and there are some brilliant trees for climbing. Whilst some paths are more natural (aka muddy) than others, there are plenty of paths you can easily get a pushchair around.

It can get very busy up here, but it’s still possible to get away from everyone fairly easily. The only downside is that it is VERY hilly in places and a gentle walk downhill soon becomes a vigorous walk uphill again! It is also home to Go Ape with treetop adventures for young and old.
