Aysgarth Falls

Aysgarth Falls is a triple flight of waterfalls near Leyburn in North Yorkshire. They are carved out by the River Ure and the waterfalls stretch to almost one mile. The falls are spectacular, especially after heavy rainfall. They are situated in the Yorkshire Dales National Park and there is a visitor centre with information, a cafe, toilets and a car park.

What can you do at Aysgarth Falls?

You can park at the visitor centre but this fills up really quickly. If you are struggling to find a space there is another car park up the hill. Here there is a cafe and a hotel. The walk up (and down) from here is very steep. The waterfalls are amongst some of the easiest to get to in the area.

If you head right from the visitor centre you will reach the upper falls. You can’t walk much further from here so head back in the opposite direction and through the visitor centre car park. You can then follow signs for the middle and lower falls. None of the falls are accessible with a pushchair or a wheelchair as there are steps and the ground is very uneven in places.

The lower falls we felt were the more spectacular of the three and we spent a while there walking next to and sitting by the falls. They are the closest falls you can get to but none of the waterfalls have anywhere safe to paddle.
