Wensleydale Experience
The Wensleydale Experience offers a rare chance to slow down, reconnect with nature and immerse yourself in authentic Yorkshire Dales life. Set on a family‑run farm in the heart of Wensleydale, this award‑winning destination blends peaceful accommodation with hands‑on rural experiences that give visitors a genuine feel for the landscape and the people who care for it.
One of the highlights is the range of farm experiences, designed to bring guests closer to the animals. Visitors can join guided farm tours where no two days are the same. Depending on the season, you might help feed piglets, brush the friendly farm rabbit, meet the Shetland pony Rolo, or spend time with the cattle, chickens, llamas and pygmy goats. These sessions are relaxed, educational and ideal for families who want to understand how a working farm operates while enjoying plenty of hands‑on interaction.
The Highland Cow Experience lets you meet the farm’s Highland cattle up close, learn how they’re cared for, and spend time brushing and interacting with them in a calm, supervised setting. It’s a straightforward, hands‑on session focused on understanding the breed and seeing how they’re looked after on the farm.
The accommodation itself is an experience. Guests can choose from beautifully furnished luxury yurts, each with its own wood‑fired hot tub, private bathroom, gas BBQ and sweeping sunrise and sunset views. The yurts are tucked into a peaceful wooded area, offering privacy and a strong connection to the surrounding landscape. For something truly unique, the 18th‑century Temple Folly provides a secluded, character‑filled retreat with uninterrupted countryside views.
