Museum Overview

The museum is located in the Royal Pavilion garden in the city’s cultural quarter. Make sure you pause for a while to admire the stunning building that houses the museum . It was initially built for the Prince of Wales and it was completed in 1805. You can walk around its great halls and see artworks on display.

There are exhibits dedicated to the city including images of Brighton and Exploring Brighton. You can follow their LGBTQ trail around the museum which celebrates the city’s strong bond with the gay community.

There is an exhibition with treasures from Ancient Egypt plus world stories and a performance area which celebrates seaside favourites such as Punch and Judy. The museum hosts a number of temporary exhibitions throughout the year.
