Ferne Animal Sanctuary

Ferne Animal Sanctuary

Ferne Animal Sanctuary is located in Wambrook, Somerset. They are a working animal welfare farm and a charity and they are open almost all year round to the public. They raise money to rehome, rehabilitate and give forever homes to animals.

The sanctuary was first established in 1939 soon after the outbreak of WWII. Nina, the Duchess of Hamilton and Brandon provided accommodation for pets that were left behind by those going to war. They are set in 72 acres of stunning Somerset countryside and they are home to a wide range of animals. Animals include cattle, sheep, goats and pigs. Plus horses, donkeys, ponies, small animals, and birds. They also look to rehome many of their animals.

Around the site, there are trails and activities to do including an outdoor play area and over 300 resident animals, although you won’t always see all of the animals that are housed here.
