The Thursford Collection

The Thursford Collection is famous for its Christmas events, but it also has a museum with the world’s largest collection of steam engines, fairground attractions and organs. They are located in Fakenham, Norfolk.

In the museum, you can see a great number of steam engines and mechanical organs. Most days you can also hear Robert Wolfe, one of the world’s leading theatre organists play the mighty Wurlitzer at 12:30 pm and 2 pm.

There are fairground rides which have an additional charge of £3 per ride per person. The two large rides include the 1896 Savages gallopers plus a special Venetian Gondola Switchback ride. The rider is taken over two hills and dips down valleys while sitting in richly carved cars shaped like Venetian Gondolas. They also have a small hand-cranked carousel perfect for children.

Outdoors there is an adventure play area and a picnic area. In the winter they have three separate events – the Thursford Christmas Spectacular, Enchanted Journey of Light and Santa’s Magical Journey. Please see their website for information.
