Arundel Castle is a restored medieval castle in Arundel, West Sussex. The story begins back in 1067 and continues to the present day. The castle was damaged in the English Civil War but later restored in the 18th and 19th centuries. Since the 11th century, the castle has been the seat of the Earl of Arundel and for over 400 years the Duke of Norfolk.

What is there to do at Arundel Castle?

At the castle, you can learn from their friendly guides about the finely preserved interior with its fascinating furniture, tapestries and rare collection of paintings. You can wander through the staterooms including the Regency library. the Baron’s Hall and the decorative drawing room. Plus there are Victorian and Edwardian-decorated bedrooms and a chapel.

You can visit the Inner Gatehouse and Barbican with dress-up for the kids. Plus you can climb the stone steps up into the Keep, squeeze along the narrow passages and enjoy the magnificent views from the top.

There are glorious gardens to explore with surprises around each corner. The beautiful award-winning tropical and English gardens include a quirky stumpery and an abundant kitchen garden plus warm glasshouses, a rose garden and more. The castle hosts a number of events.

There is a cafe serving hot and cold food and drinks. You are welcome to bring a picnic.

What are the ticket prices?

An adult ticket costs £20, children £10. It is cheaper if you just want to visit the gardens at £12 for an adult and £6 for a child. Family tickets are available.

There is parking nearby, but charges apply.

When are they open?

They are closed on Mondays except for bank holidays and in August. For up-to-date opening times please visit their website.
