Baddesley Clinton

Baddesley Clinton is a unique National Trust property with a murderous story to tell, Hidden away near Knowle in pretty Warwickshire.

What is there to do at Baddesley Clinton?

Baddesley offers free, parking for its visitors with no time restrictions. As with most National Trust sites, you’ll first find the entry point, toilets, café and gift shop as you first arrive.

The house itself is one of my absolute favourites. Surrounded by a moat that makes this house feel so grand and offers something different to the usual stately home. The tour guides that are dotted around the house are some of the best I have seen. The house has a huge amount of interesting history and the guides have really captured this and are more than happy to share with all. I found them especially good with the younger visitors as well. Giving them just enough details, leaving them intrigued but not terrified!

The house sits in a large parkland. You can pick up a guide on local walks on your arrival. There are plenty of choices for walkers of all levels to enjoy. If you want to keep it simple though, the immediate grounds have a nice route you can walk around that include a lake and some great areas for tree climbing. This is a must for our children anyway! You can loop back round to the house through the walled gardens which are beautiful at all times of the year. You might even find some pumpkins growing in the kitchen gardens!

There are plenty of areas to picnic within the grounds and if you’re lucky you may get to share your lunch with a passing duck or two. We even shared our picnic bench with a very friendly cat. Where the main picnic area was, there were some large garden games to play with. This provided plenty of fun for the whole family.

If you are feeling particularly eager to burn off some energy. Packwood house which is another National Trust site is a 5-mile walk away. A map highlighting the route is available on arrival at Baddesley. The route is extremely popular and is a great way to lengthen your family day out and take in the beautiful Warwickshire scenery.
